A commission, not a booking
The photographs are only the visible part of what we do. The rest is an experience designed to feel like the best kind of hospitality — anticipatory, unhurried, and personal — from the first hello to the final print.
The First Conversation
Every commission begins with an hour together — a video call, or coffee in Cape Town if you are near. There is no agenda and nothing to sign. We ask about the two of you before we ask anything about the wedding: how you met, what home feels like, whose laugh carries furthest across a room.
By the end you will know whether we are your people, and we will know how your day wants to be told. Only then do we talk about collections, tailored to what your day actually needs.
The Design
In the months before the wedding we quietly do the work that makes the day feel effortless. We build the timeline backwards from the light, walk your venue at the hour of your ceremony, and speak with your planner so that no one ever has to look for us.
You receive a considered photographic plan — not a shot list borrowed from the internet, but a reading of your specific day: where the light will fall, when the emotion will gather, and where we will be standing when it does.
The Wedding Day
On the day itself we are present but never imposing — two of us, dressed like guests, moving the way the day moves. We do not direct; we anticipate. The photographs that matter cannot be staged, only noticed in time.
If you would like portraits, we steal you away for twenty minutes at the golden hour — a walk rather than a session. Most couples tell us afterwards it was the only quiet moment of the day, and their favourite.
The Heirloom
Afterwards, we take our time — a disciplined edit measured in weeks, not a bulk export measured in hours. A private preview arrives while the day is still warm; the complete gallery and films follow, sequenced as a story.
Then comes the part we care about most: ink on cotton paper. Albums sewn to last a century, prints made to be handed down rather than scrolled past. Your grandchildren will not inherit a hard drive.
Considerations
Questions couples ask
Where are you based, and will you travel?
We are based in Cape Town, and roughly half of each season is photographed beyond it — the Winelands, the Garden Route, the Karoo, and abroad. Travel is quoted transparently at cost, never marked up.
How far in advance should we enquire?
Most couples reach us nine to eighteen months before their date. Because we accept a limited number of weddings each year, popular months in the Cape summer are often spoken for a season ahead.
Do you offer photography and film together?
Yes — and it is how we do our best work. One team sharing one visual language means nobody negotiates for space during your vows, and your gallery and film feel like the same memory.
How does pricing work?
Collections are shaped around each wedding rather than sold off a shelf, so we share them during your consultation once we understand the day you are planning. The conversation always comes first.
When will we receive everything?
A private preview arrives within the week. The complete gallery follows within about eight weeks, films within twelve — we would rather be honest about patience than hurry your heirlooms.
We're not natural in front of a camera. Does that matter?
Almost nobody is, and it has never once mattered. We work unobtrusively and direct almost nothing; the couples who describe themselves as awkward are usually the ones most surprised by their gallery.
